Improper use of verbs taking one objects

　　Example:

　　Wrong：他决定了参加足球比赛。

　　Right：他决定参加足球比赛。

　　“决定”means to decide on an action. It may form a predicate by itself (e.g. 这件事就这么决定了,考试日期已经决定了). It may also take an object as in the present sentence,参加足球比赛(which is a verb-object phrase). In such case, “决定”can not have aspect particle “了”attached to it.
